I’m a big collector of retro video games and vinyl records — two mediums that have largely gone digital in my lifetime. There’s something uniquely fun about picking something off the shelf or receiving a physical package in the mail. In the same vein, I really enjoy thrifting, appreciating the hit-or-miss thrill of sometimes uncovering something great, and other times walking away empty-handed.

Over the past 10+ years, I’ve also spent a lot of time building and curating my Spotify library. That said, I’d have to say my favorite form of entertainment is live music — there’s nothing quite like it.

I’ve always been drawn to sports, especially playing rather than just watching. I played competitive hockey through college and minor league, picked up basketball in my 20s, and got into golf in my 30s. During the Chicago winters, I like to mix things up with some indoor rock climbing.

CAREER JOURNEY
I have worked in digital commerce for 10+ years, gaining considerable start-up experience and building deep expertise with dropship and ISO business models. My journey started in financial reporting as a management accountant, reporting directly to the controller. After several years in accounting, I transitioned into operations, where I had the opportunity to actively address the very issues I had developed a talent for uncovering in financial reporting.

In this new role, I immediately took on oversight of 20 individuals across multiple teams and layers within the organization. I also gained valuable experience collaborating with cross-functional team leaders, which made the transition into management feel natural. During this time, I reported directly to the C-suite.
I held this operations leadership role for several years before moving into a consulting role with a marketing group specializing in tech solutions. This shift exposed me to a new environment where I delivered all of my expertise through client relationships.

That period proved invaluable because it focused heavily on sales, marketing, and IT/development — areas I hadn’t had deep, hands-on experience with previously. While the earlier part of my career centered on back-end operations (post-sale), this newer chapter revolved around front-end processes (pre-sale). Combined, these experiences have given me well-rounded exposure across B2C and B2B environments and across a diverse range of industries, including eCommerce, automotive, direct lending, group investments, digital health, and solar.

This broad experience base also makes me an ideal candidate for companies undergoing transformation and modernization initiatives — particularly those looking to bridge operational gaps between front-end and back-end processes.

Currently, I’m also expanding my technical skill set by focusing on Python, with the goal of strengthening my capabilities around AI and machine learning tools.

REFLECTING ON THE JOURNEY
I feel incredibly fortunate for how my career timeline has evolved. While I occasionally questioned my decision to shift focus at times, the end result has been undeniably rewarding.

-
In my operations role, I had only intermittent, arm’s-length exposure to IT and development. In my consulting role, I gained hands-on, detailed exposure to full-stack development.
-
Early in my career, I worked with a Power BI developer to design our reporting catalog. Now, I’m fully self-reliant — managing the source database, data synchronization, and visualization processes in Power BI myself.
-
I’ve also developed omnichannel marketing experience and have worked in both multi-channel and omnichannel eCommerce environments.
-
My background includes working with CRMs, building SOPs, creating reports and dashboards, and managing pipelines across a variety of digital commerce industries — all from the perspective of different roles and departments.
Ultimately, I believe my greatest asset is the ability to rapidly understand new business models.

-
In accounting, I quickly developed an understanding of how a business was performing and why.
-
In operations, my cross-functional role gave me a unique view into the interconnectedness of processes and systems.
-
In data and database management, I leverage tools and resources that allow me to quickly map out the technical infrastructure of both the core business and its third-party integrations.
This comprehensive perspective across B2B and B2C environments — combined with my experience in eCommerce, automotive, direct lending, group investments, digital health, and solar — makes me particularly well-suited for organizations embarking on transformation and modernization initiatives.

WHAT I ENJOY
On a personal level, I’m most drawn to analyzing data and using it to tell stories — living by the principle: “If you can’t measure it, you can’t manage it.” In particular, event tracking is one of my favorite aspects of that process. It’s relatively easy to spot that a problem exists, but when the necessary data isn’t fully available, it takes the right experience to know how to create and capture the right events within a system to surface the insights needed.

I’m also deeply curious about how work gets done, rather than just what work is being done. This natural curiosity drives my attraction to roles with constant problem-solving opportunities and the chance to optimize processes and systems. I view these qualities as essential for any modern operations leader.

On a lighter note, I love building “big brother” dashboards — not for surveillance, but because people tend to take shortcuts or make mistakes when they know gaps exist. Proper oversight through data visibility helps ensure issues are identified and addressed early.

Regardless of where I’ve been in my career — and wherever I’m heading next — I’ve always been a lifelong learner with a constant appetite for growth. My personal development queue is always packed with new skills and certifications I want to pursue.

I pride myself on adapting quickly to new platforms and technologies. To maintain self-reliance, I actively incorporate AI tools into my personal learning process — especially as I continue studying Python to enhance my AI and machine learning capabilities.
